Middle School October Newsletter
We had an amazing experience team building at our Project Discovery field trip. Fourth grade joined Middle School to start this school year off with an adventure!
Here are some curriculum highlights for the month of October:
Science and STEM classes began the year investigating the Scientific Method and lab safety. Now we are working on structural design projects using legos to determine the strongest and most durable geometric shapes.Using a series drop tests from increasing altitudes, students are collaborating in groups to build and modify their designs, in a competitive environment.
Students are engrossed in their Chautauqua projects and studying the literary genres of Biography and Autobiography. Student presentations will be Tuesday, November 1st and Wednesday, November 2nd at the Middle School from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Families are welcome to attend. Invitations to follow. A finalist from each grade will be chosen to perform their presentation at our schoolwide Chautauqua Assembly Friday, November 4th.
Our Social Studies have been focused on current events in September. In October we will shift our focus to Nevada History and Geography.
Students are focusing on their individualized Mathematics levels in IXL. Classroom investigation will be centered on Numbers and Operations moving into Algebra.
Friday Electives are in full swing. Students are enjoying Fit For Fun with Ms. Baran, Art with Miss Hayes, and Chinese with Miss Gigi.
Basketball Season is upon us. Coach Aitchison is looking for any students in 4th through 8th grade who are interested in participating to sign up in the main campus office or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. It's a great way to get some exercise and have some fun!
